Thankfully I did not yet have this update in any production environments. I am curious to see how this plays out in the press VMware vs. Microsoft virtualization.

I didn't fancy changing BIOS on all my VMs. So as part of troubleshooting the issue I created the following script to check the date time and reboot times of my VMs. This is a VI Toolkit powershell script.

Get-VM | where-Object {$_.PowerState -eq "PoweredOn" } | foreach {get-WmiObject Win32_OperatingSystem -computer $_.Name }| Select-Object CSName,LocalDateTime,LastBootUpTime

Anyway the patch is now out and I'm going to start applying it. I'll use this script to see which hosts have been rebooted during this time and reboot them when the hosts are patched.

I've never been so happy that we are in such a time crunch that no one in our group feels like rebuilding or upgrading 80+ servers every time an update comes out.

We still have 6 servers on 3.0.2, though the majority are on 3.5(no updates).

exhaustion finally pays off!

I can't believe this one.

According to the VMWare phone support this is being tracked as KB 1006716. Of course I couldn't actually get on the site as its overloaded.
