Up until now, I haven’t really messed around with listening to podcasts. I know all about them, what they are, how they work, and all that wonderful jazz. But I typically have not listened to podcasts at all.
I’m not really sure why, although I suppose it could be due to not having some podcasts that I really find useful or enjoyable.
So I’ll toss it back to you, the readers, for your feedback. Are there podcasts out there that you find useful? What podcasts would you recommend for a guy like me?

Hi Scott - I’m talking off my vmware hat (not that I’ve blogged much about it lately) for this comment… As I think I may have told you before, I’m a huge fan of Dave Ramsey. He podcasts his radio show and it ranks pretty high in the iTunes business section. Good stuff - for anybody to listen to. He gives great financial advice and most importantly HOPE! Also, check out problogger.net - that guy does a weekly video post, not exactly a podcast, though. Good stuff on blog optimization. Our best to you and your wife. Jim & Tina

Hi Jim, good to hear from you! I hope you and Tina and the family are doing well. I do recall that you were a big fan of Dave Ramsey, so I’ll have to try a couple of his podcasts and see how they sit with me. I appreciate the suggestion.
Take care and stay in touch!

Try the Twit network for great quality podcast covering a nice selection of topics. Very consumer oriented. http://twit.tv

Well, to date I haven’t found anything compelling regarding Virtualisation podcasts, but I have found that there a ton of entertaining ones that have replaced by radio use. NPR and the CBC have quite a number of republished shows which are more convenient to listen to via podcast if your time usage doesn’t match perfectly with the broadcast schedules.
The Apple world has a number of entertaining one as well, MacBreak Weekly being an amusing collection of pundits from the Twit network.
And there’s a ton of stuff that would never meet the FCC requirements on the NSFW front like Pacific Coast Hellway.
On the practical side, there’s a great video podcast for learning Ruby on Rails called Railscasts which is worth visiting if you’re interested.

Here’s the ones I subscribe to and listen to almost every episode. I use them for education and entertainment when I can’t read, or need something more stimulating than just reading. I get a LOT out of this method of input, more than a guy who loves to read should, it will surprise you, I’m guessing.
I’ve noted which are Video, while not many, I follow them very closely while on the plane or in situations where I can sit and watch for a short time.

The only tech podcasts I listen to are the OnPodcast series. I subscribe to OnNetworking, but honestly it hasn’t really taught me anything, just a tip here or there.
Aside from tech, I really like video game podcasts. The 1UP Yours show is my favorite, I look forward to it every week.

Scott,
I listen to three…
John Piper Sermon Podcast
Mars Hill Church Sermon Podcast (Seattle)
12 Byzantine Rulers (Random, but interesting for some reason)
Nothing in the tech or virtual category mainly because I listen to these while driving and I don’t want to fall asleep.

Check out Diggnation video podcast. Really good geek/tech news from Digg.com’s Kevin Rose. Not overly tech, but good fun anyways.
