Very useful. Changing the DRS setting to MANUAL for the cluster works pefectly. You can then change it back once done.

I have had this exact issue in our 3.5 cluster. Placing DRS into manual will allow you to create the Virtual Machine on local storage or a non shared LUN.

I have seen a similar situation. I received the error moments after the creation when I first tried to power on the VM. DRS had kicked in and moved the VM to a different host.

Like Matteo said changing DRS to a less aggressive mode will fix this, or manually migrating some VMs off of the host you want to create a disposable VM on.

Matteo,

Yes, I've heard that putting DRS into manual mode will fix the issue. But what, exactly, is the cause of the underlying issue?

I am seeing this issue; however, I am only seeing it when clicking on the cluster. If I want to deploy a template or create a new VM using Local Storage, it works to create it by right clicking the host. We are also using the same version of 3.0.2 and 2.0.2. We have had this problem however since 3.0.1 as well.
