A week ago, I posted a call for prayer for my family. I appreciate the many responses that I received, and I am happy to report that the Lord has answered our prayers. Although the answer did not come in the form that I had hoped, I am still thanking God for deliverance and I am praising God for his wondrous works.
Things could have gone much, much worse in this situation, but God’s power carried my family and I through this trial and I believe that our faith and our belief is stronger for it. Again, thanks to everyone who responded, and thanks to all those who lifted their voices in prayer for my family. I hope that God richly blesses each and every one of you for your compassion and concern.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Things are better in some aspects, the same in other aspects, but in all things God continues to be with us, as He has promised.

Scott,
I’ve been following your technical blogs on AD authentication for the last couple of years and have come to appreciate the practical ways you’ve come up with to implement it.
I sent your URL to a friend of mine the BLM up in Montana and he was impressed by your openness about your faith mixed in with the technical posts.
We are who we are and shouldn’t be ashamed to let others know what we believe. It’s not always going to be accepted of course.
As far as troubles and trials, I know that God allows us to be tested so we shouldn’t be surprised when difficulties show up on the doorstep. I found out about a week and a half ago that I’m going to be laid off at the end of August unless I can find another project within the company to transfer to. There are lots of good resources available so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find something. What’s making it interesting is that I had to have outpatient surgery done ASAP to correct inguinal hernias so I’ve had to start the job search process feeling like someone kicked me in the stomach.
Maybe I’ll put it on the resume and call it ‘outstanding ability to deal with distractions’. I hope your family’s problems get worked out. don’t forget though what Paul said in Phil. 4:11 “11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ[b] who strengthens me.”

Randy,
Thanks for your comment! It must be a “God thing” that you decided to post this comment, because I had considered taking out the personal posts (and possibly moving them to a different blog). I guess I’ll leave them in!
I appreciate the Scripture as well…God is still working mightily in our situation. We have seen Him answer prayer and open doors in unexplainable ways since I posted this article. While the trial continues, I can say that I am truly blessed.
Thanks, and I’ll keep your job search (and recovery from surgery) in our prayers!

Glad to hear that your family is through this difficult time.
I’m sorry to post here but I was unable to post in the correct item. You had a post on “Mass Renaming Computers”. I got the command but I’m not sure what to do with it. It will not run as a batch file or as a windows “run”. How do I get this to run?
Thank you

CurrentUser,
The command in that article should run fine from the command line. It may take some editing to make it work from a batch file.
Good luck!

I have come to realize that God never answers our prayers in the way we want Him or expect Him to. This is as it should be. When we pray for strength, he more burden is placed on us. When we pray for patience, our patience is tested further. When we pray for peace, another war breaks out.
I enjoy your blog site and work in Charlotte as a virtualization, storage and DR consultant. Being a Christian, it is refreshing to see you blog openly about this. There is nothing to hide, in fact it may inspire others to pray and ponder their journey of faith.

Dan,
I appreciate the feedback. My wife and I have been reading through a small book that discusses the prayer of Jabez and what we’ve been studying there plays perfectly into what you’re saying. It is through our weakness that His strength is made perfect, and through our shortcomings that His perfection is made clear.
Thanks for reading!
